Associate, Bird & Bird

An inspiring and supportive workplace means everything to me.

When studying law at university you focus on learning the main principles of legal theory. Actually practicing law in a business law firm can be quite different, although I would argue in a good way! Businesses usually need lawyers either when they have a problem that needs fixing or when they have a great idea but need advice on how to prepare for any potential legal problems arising. Our job as lawyers is to predict which laws may be triggered by certain actions and how to manage this in a way which gives the best result for your client.

I first joined Bird & Bird as a Trainee and I am now continuing my career here as an Associate. Once the GDPR became applicable, I then got the chance to start specialising in Data Protection. This inspired me to write my Master's Thesis on Data Protection as a Thesis Trainee at Bird & Bird. I truly believe that I will never get bored with my chosen fields of specialty, being Data Protection and IT Law, because these areas of law are new, they relate to the development of the latest technology and they are constantly changing and evolving. This means that there is always something new to learn.

I feel like a sponge here, soaking up as much knowledge as I can every day. There is a certain drive and tempo in everything that we do at Bird & Bird, which is a good match for my energetic personality. Furthermore, working in an international and easy-going atmosphere is very important to me. It only took me a few days to realise that Bird & Bird is a place where I feel like home. To me, Bird & Bird is not just a firm, it is a big family spread around the world.

At the end of the day, I can see myself working at Bird & Bird for a long time since working here offers me new ways to develop and challenge myself every day in an encouraging and warm environment. It is honestly hard to imagine myself finding a better match than this.
